예수님에 의해 자유롭게

“함께 살던 어머니가 결국 못 견디고 나가셨어요!” 마음을 바로 잡고 예수님께 엎드리기 이전에 아름답지 못한 삶을 살았던 케이씨가 한 말입니다. 그는 물건을 훔치면서 상습적으로 마약을 해온 것을 솔직하게 인정합니다. 심지어 사랑하는 사람들의 물건까지도 훔쳤다고 합니다. 이제 그런 삶은 그의 과거가 되었으며 마약 없이 지낸 날과 달, 햇수를 기록하면서 건전한 삶을 실천합니다. 케이씨와 정기적으로 하나님 말씀을 함께 공부하면서 나는 지금 변화된 사람을 보고 있습니다.

마가복음 5장 15절은 전에 마귀에게 붙들렸다가 역시 변화된 사람에 대해 이야기합니다. 치유되기 전에는 ‘도움도 없고 소망도 없고 집도 없으며 절망적’ 이라는 말들이 그 사람에게 딱 맞는 말이었습니다(3-5절). 하지만 예수님이 그를 자유롭게 하신 후 모든 것이 변했습니다(13절). 그러나 케이씨처럼, 예수님을 만나기 전 그의 삶도 정상적인 것과는 거리가 멀었습니다. 마귀에게 붙들렸던 그가 밖으로 표현한 내면의 혼란은 오늘날 사람들이 경험하는 것과 결코 다르지 않습니다. 오늘날 상처받은 사람 중에는 버려진 건물이나 자동차, 그 외 다른 곳에 사는 사람들도 있고, 어떤 사람들은 비록 자기 집에서 살지만 감정적으로 외톨이입니다. 보이지 않는 사슬이 다른 사람들로부터 거리를 두도록 마음과 생각을 묶어버립니다.

예수님 안에는 우리에게 과거와 현재의 아픔과 부끄러움이 있어도 우리가 신뢰할 수 있는 그런 한 분이 있습니다. 그리고 케이씨와 군대귀신에 붙들렸던 그 사람처럼, 하나님은 오늘 그분께로 달려오는 모든 사람들에게 자비의 팔을 벌리고 기다리고 계십니다(19절).

Liberated by Jesus

“I lived with my mother so long that she moved out!” Those were the words of KC, whose life before sobriety and surrender to Jesus was not pretty. He candidly admits supporting his drug habit by stealing—even from loved ones. That life is behind him now and he rehearses this by noting the years, months, and days he’s been clean. When KC and I regularly sit down to study God’s Word together, l’m looking at a changed man.

Mark 5:15 speaks of a former demon-possessed individual who had also been changed. Prior to his healing, helpless, hopeless, homeless, and desperate are words that fit the man (VV. 3–5). But all of that changed after Jesus liberated him (V. 13). But, as with KC, his life before Jesus was far from normal. His internal turmoil that he expressed externally is not unlike what people experience today. Some hurting people dwell in abandoned buildings, vehicles, or other places; some live in their own homes but are emotionally alone. Invisible chains shackle hearts and minds to the point that they distance themselves from others.

In Jesus, we have the One who can be trusted with our pain and the shame of the past and present. And, as with Legion and KC, He waits with open arms of mercy for all who run to Him today (V. 19). ARTHUR JACKSON

가시에 찔린 사랑

카알라는 전화도 하고 문자도 보냈습니다. 지금 카알라는 남동생의 집 문 밖에서 그를 깨워 대답을 들을 방법이 없어서 그냥 서 있었습니다. 우울증에 시달리고 중독과 싸우느라 동생은 집 안에만 틀어박혀 있었습니다. 고립된 동생에게 다가가려는 간절함으로 카알라는 용기를 주는 성경구절과 함께 그가 좋아하는 음식 몇 가지를 모아 담장 너머로 꾸러미를 내려놓았습니다.

그러나 그 꾸러미가 손을 벗어나면서 문의 뾰족한 못에 걸려 찢어져 내용물들이 아래 자갈길 위로 쏟아졌습니다. 카알라가 애써 사랑을 담아 베푼 것이 쏟아져버려 낭비된 것 같이 보였습니다. 동생이 누나의 선물을 받아보기나 할까요? 그 선물에 담긴 누나의 희망이 제대로 전달될 수 있을까요? 카알라는 오직 동생의 치유를 기다리면서 소망을 가지고 기도할 수밖에 없습니다.

하나님은 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 (본질적으로) 우리 죄의 담장을 넘어 그분의 독생자를 내려주시고 지치고 버려진 세상에 사랑과 치유의 선물을 가져오셨습니다(요한복음 3:16). 이사야 선지자는 이사야 53장 5절에서 이 사랑의 행동의 대가를 예언한 바 있습니다. 바로 그 아들 예수님이 “우리의 허물 때문에 찔리고 우리의 죄악 때문에 상함을 받는다”고 말입니다. 예수님의 상처는 궁극적인 치유의 소망을 가져다 줄 것입니다. 예수님은 “우리 모두의 죄악”(6절)을 직접 짊어지셨습니다.

우리의 죄와 우리의 부족함 때문에 가시에 찔리신, 하나님의 선물인 예수님께서 오늘날 우리 시대에 새로운 능력과 관점으로 들어오십니다. 이 하나님의 선물이 당신에게 어떤 의미가 있습니까?

Pierced Love

She’d called. She’d texted. Now Carla stood outside her brother’s gated entry, unable to rouse him to answer. Burdened with depression and fighting addiction, her brother had hidden himself away in his home. In a desperate attempt to penetrate his isolation, Carla gathered several of his favorite foods along with encouraging Scriptures and lowered the bundle over the fence.

But as the package left her grip, it snagged on one of the gate spikes, tearing an opening and sending its contents onto the gravel below. Her well-intended, love-filled offering spilled out in seeming waste. Would her brother even notice her gift? Would it accomplish the mission of hope she’d intended? She can only hope and pray as she waits for his healing.

God so loved the world that—in essence—He lowered His one and only Son over the wall of our sin, bringing gifts of love and healing into our weary and withdrawn world (JOHN 3:16). The prophet Isaiah predicted the cost of this act of love in Isaiah 53:5. This very Son would be “pierced for our transgressions, . . . crushed for our iniquities.” His wounds would bring the hope of ultimate healing. He took on Himself “the iniquity of us all” (V. 6).

Pierced by spikes for our sin and need, God’s gift of Jesus enters our days today with fresh power and perspective. What does His gift mean to you? ELISA MORGAN

옛 약속

1979년에 가브리엘 바케이 박사 팀이 예루살렘의 구시가지 밖에 있는 매장지에서 두 개의 은색 두루마리를 발견했습니다. 25년간의 면밀한 연구 끝에 2004년 학자들은 이 두루마리가 기원전 600년경에 묻혔던 것으로 현존하는 가장 오래된 성경본문이라는 것을 확인했습니다. 특히 감동적인 것은 두루마리 속에 담겨 있는 제사장의 축복문인데, 그것은 바로 하나님께서 그의 백성에게 하시고 싶어 했던 말씀입니다. “여호와는 네게 복을 주시고 너를 지키시기를 원하며 여호와는 그의 얼굴을 네게 비추사”(민수기 6:24-25).

Ancient Promises

In 1979, Dr. Gabriel Barkay and his team discovered two silver scrolls in a burial ground outside the Old City of Jerusalem. In 2004, after twenty-five years of careful research, scholars confirmed that the scrolls were the oldest biblical text in existence, having been buried in 600 BC. What I find particularly moving is what the scrolls contain—the priestly blessing that God wanted spoken over His people: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you” (NUMBERS 6:24–25).

In giving this benediction, God showed Aaron and his sons (through Moses) how to bless the people on His behalf. The leaders were to memorize the words in the form God gave so they would speak to them just as God desired. Note how these words emphasize that God is the one who blesses, for three times they say, “the Lord.” And six times He says, “you,” reflecting just how much God wants His people to receive His love and favor.

Ponder for a moment that the oldest existing fragments of the Bible tell of God’s desire to bless. What a reminder of God’s boundless love and how He wants to be in a relationship with us. If you feel far from God today, hold tightly to the promise in these ancient words. May the Lord bless you; may the Lord keep you. AMY BOUCHER PYE

우리가 속한 자리

각자의 첫 배우자를 비극적으로 잃은 지 몇 년 후에, 로비와 사브리나는 서로 사랑하여 결혼하게 되었고 두 가족을 합쳤습니다. 그들은 새 집을 짓고 그 집을 하빌라(“고통에 몸부림치다”와 “만들어내다”라는 의미의 히브리어)라고 이름 붙였습니다. 그것은 고통을 통해 아름다운 무언가를 만드는 것을 의미합니다. 이 부부는 자신들의 과거를 잊기 위해서가 아니라 “잿더미에서 생명을 건져 올리고 소망을 기뻐하기 위해” 집을 지었다고 말합니다. 그들에게는 “그곳이 우리가 속한 자리, 삶을 기뻐하는 자리, 가족 모두가 미래의 약속을 붙드는 자리”입니다.

A Place of Belonging

Some years after the tragic loss of their first spouses, Robbie and Sabrina fell in love, married, and combined their two families. They built a new home and named it Havilah (a Hebrew word meaning “writhing in pain” and “to bring forth”). It signifies the making of something beautiful through pain. The couple says they didn’t build the home to forget their past but “to bring life from the ashes, to celebrate hope.” For them, “it is a place of belonging, a place to celebrate life and where we all cling to the promise of a future.”

That’s a beautiful picture of our life in Jesus. He pulls our lives from the ashes and becomes for us a place of belonging. When we receive Him, He makes His home in our hearts (EPHESIANS 3:17). God adopts us into His family through Jesus so that we belong to Him (1:5–6). Although we’ll go through painful times, He can use even those to bring good purposes in our lives.

Daily we have opportunity to grow in our understanding of God as we enjoy His love and celebrate what He’s given us. In Him, there’s a fullness to life that we couldn’t have without Him (3:19). And we have the promise that this relationship will last forever. Jesus is our place of belonging, our reason to celebrate life, and our hope now and forever. ANNE CETAS

가장 힘든 곳

제프는 한 때 자신이 헤로인을 남용했던 바로 그 도시에서 지금 청소년 담당 목사로 있습니다. 하나님께서 아주 놀라운 방법으로 그의 마음과 환경을 변화시켜 주셨습니다. 제프는 말합니다. “아이들이 저와 똑같은 실수를 저질러 제가 겪었던 고통을 겪지 않도록 하고 싶습니다. 그리고 예수님께서 그들을 도와주실 것입니다.” 시간이 지나면서 하나님은 그를 중독의 노예 상태에서 벗어나게 하시고 과거를 딛고 그에게 중요한 사역을 맡기신 것입니다.

하나님은 아무런 희망도 보이지 않는 상황 속에서도 우리가 예상 못하는 방식으로 선을 이루십니다. 요셉이 이집트에 노예로 팔려 가서 누명을 쓰고 여러 해 동안 감옥에 갇혀 있을 때 아무도 그를 기억해주지 않았습니다. 하지만 하나님은 그를 회복시켜 바로 왕 다음의 지위에 앉히시는데, 요셉은 그 지위를 통해 그를 버린 형들을 포함하여 수많은 사람들의 생명을 구하게 됩니다. 요셉은 이집트에서 결혼하여 아이들을 갖고는 둘째 아들의 이름을 에브라임 (“두 번의 수확”을 뜻하는 히브리말에서 따옴)이라고 짓고 그 이유를 이렇게 말했습니다. “내가 고생하던 이 땅에서, 하나님이 자손을 번성하게 해주셨다”(창세기 41:52, 새번역).

제프 목사와 요셉의 이야기는 3, 4천년의 차이가 있지만 변함없는 같은 진리를 보여줍니다. 그것은 우리가 아무리 힘든 곳에 있을지라도 그곳이 하나님께서 많은 사람들을 돕고 축복해주는 비옥한 땅이 될 수 있다는 것입니다. 우리의 구주이신 하나님의 사랑과 능력은 결코 변하지 않으며, 하나님은 그분을 신뢰하는 자들에게 언제나 신실하십니다.

The Hardest Places

Geoff is a youth pastor today in the same city where he once abused heroin. God transformed both his heart and his circumstances in a breathtaking way. “I want to keep kids from making the same mistakes and suffering the pain I went through,” Geoff said. “And Jesus will help them.” Over time, God set him free from the slavery of addiction and has given him a vital ministry in spite of his past.

God has ways of bringing unexpected good out of situations where hope seems lost. Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt and falsely accused and sent to prison, where he was forgotten for years. But God restored him and placed him in a position of authority directly under Pharaoh, where he was able to save many lives—including the lives of his brothers who’d abandoned him. There in Egypt Joseph married and had children. He named the second Ephraim (drawn from the Hebrew term for “twice fruitful”), and gave this reason: “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering” (GENESIS 41:52).

Geoff’s and Joseph’s stories, while separated by three to four thousand years, point to the same unchanging truth: even the hardest places in our lives can become fertile ground for God to help and bless many. Our Savior’s love and power never change, and He’s always faithful to those who trust in Him. JAMES BANKS

하나님의 실상

C.S. 루이스의 ‘나니아 연대기: 사자와 마녀와 옷장’이라는 소설에서 아슬란이라는 강력한 사자가 오랜만에 다시 나타나자 나니아의 모든 동물들이 열광합니다. 하지만 아슬란이 사악한 흰 마녀의 요구를 받아들이자 나니아의 기쁨은 슬픔으로 변해버립니다. 아슬란이 패배할 것처럼 보이는 상황에서 나니아의 동물들은 아슬란이 고막을 찢는 듯이 포효하는 소리에 마녀가 공포에 떨며 달아나자 아슬란의 능력을 실감합니다. 전부를 잃은 것 같았지만, 아슬란이 궁극적으로 사악한 마녀보다 더 위대한 존재임이 증명됩니다.

The Reality of God

In C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, all of Narnia is thrilled when the mighty lion Aslan reappears after a long absence. Their joy turns to sorrow, however, when Aslan concedes to a demand made by the evil White Witch. Faced with Aslan’s apparent defeat, the Narnians experience his power when he emits an earsplitting roar that causes the witch to flee in terror. Although all seems to have been lost, Aslan ultimately proves to be greater than the villainous witch.

Like Aslan’s followers in Lewis’s allegory, Elisha’s servant despaired when he got up one morning to see himself and Elisha surrounded by an enemy army. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” he exclaimed (2 KINGS 6:15). The prophet’s response was calm: “Don’t be afraid . . . . Those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (V. 16). Elisha then prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see” (V. 17). So, “the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (V. 17). Although things at first seemed bleak to the servant’s eye, God’s power ultimately proved greater than the enemy horde.

Our difficult circumstances may lead us to believe all is lost, but God desires to open our eyes and reveal that He is greater. REMI OYEDELE

상상할 수 없는

바트 밀라드는 2001년 “난 단지 상상만 할 수 있어요”를 작곡해서 크게 히트했습니다. 이 노래는 그리스도 앞에 서는 것이 얼마나 놀라운 일일지를 잘 그리고 있습니다. 그 다음 해에 열일곱 살 난 딸 멜리사가 교통사고로 죽었을 때, 밀라드의 가사는 그 애가 하나님의 앞에 있는 것이 어떨지를 상상하게 해주어 우리 가족에게 위안이 되었습니다.

하지만 멜리사가 죽은 후 며칠 동안 ‘상상한다’는 말이 다르게 들려왔습니다. 멜리사의 친구 아버지들이 염려와 고통으로 가득 찬 모습으로 내게 다가와 “얼마나 힘드실지 상상이 안 된다”고 말했던 것입니다.

그러나 하나님은 지금 가장 음침한 골짜기에서 우리와 함께 하시겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 그리고 골짜기를 지나면 우리가 그분과 함께 있게 될 것이라고 확신시켜 주심으로 미래에 대한 큰 소망도 주십니다. 믿는 자들에게 있어 “몸을 떠난다”는 것은 하나님과 함께 있는 것을 의미합니다(고린도후서 5:8). 그 사실은 우리가 미래에 하나님과 다른 성도들과 함께 연합할 것을 상상하면서, 상상할 수 없는 상황을 헤쳐 나가는데 도움을 줍니다.

Unimaginable

Bart Millard penned a megahit in 2001 when he wrote, “I Can Only Imagine.” The song pictures how amazing it will be to be in Christ’s presence. Millard’s lyrics offered comfort to our family that next year when our seventeenyear-old daughter, Melissa, died in a car accident and we imagined what it was like for her to be in God’s presence.

But imagine spoke to me in a different way in the days following Mell’s death. As fathers of Melissa’s friends approached me, full of concern and pain, they said, “I can’t imagine what you’re going through.”

Their expressions were helpful, showing that they were grappling with our loss in an empathetic way—finding it unimaginable.

David pinpointed the depth of great loss when he described walking through “the darkest valley” (PSALM 23:4). The death of a loved one certainly is that, and we sometimes have no idea how we’re going to navigate the darkness. We can’t imagine ever being able to come out on the other side.

But as God promised to be with us in our darkest valley now, He also provides great hope for the future by assuring us that beyond the valley we’ll be in His presence. For the believer, to be “away from the body” means being present with Him (2 CORINTHIANS 5:8). That can help us navigate the unimaginable as we imagine our future reunion with Him and others. 늘 함께 하심

2018년 월드컵 경기 때 콜롬비아의 포워드 라다멜 팔카오가 경기시작 70분에 폴란드를 상대로 승리를 굳히는 골을 넣었습니다. 그 극적인 골은 국제경기에서 팔카오의 30번째 골로, 그에게 콜롬비아 선수 중 국제경기 최다 골을 기록한 선수로 명성을 얻게 해주었습니다.

팔카오는 축구경기에서 골을 넣을 때 종종 자신의 믿음을 드러냈는데, 골을 넣은 후 자주 그의 셔츠에 쓰인 “예수님과 함께라면 결코 혼자가 아니다.”라는 문구를 보여주었습니다.

팔카오의 말은 우리에게 “내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라” (마태복음 28:20)고 예수님이 하신 확실한 약속을 생각나게 해줍니다. 예수님은 하늘로 승천하실 것을 아시고 제자들에게 성령을 통해 그들과 항상 함께 하실 거라고 확신시켜 주심으로 그들을 위로하셨습니다(20절; 요한복음 14:16-18). 제자들이 가까운 또는 먼 도시에 가서 예수님의 복음을 전할 때 성령께서 그들을 위로하고 인도하며 보호하고 힘을 주실 것입니다. 그리고 그들이 낯선 곳에서 극심한 외로움의 시기를 지날 때에도 예수님의 말씀은 그들의 귓가에 울려서 예수님이 그들과 함께 계시다는 것을 일깨워줄 것입니다.

우리가 어디를 가든지, 집에서 가까운 곳이든 먼 곳이든 예수님을 따라 미지의 곳으로 갈 때 우리 또한 같은 이 약속에 매달릴 수 있습니다. 우리가 외로움을 느낄 때라도 기도로 예수님께 나아가면 주님이 우리와 함께 계신다는 것을 알고 위로를 받을 수 있습니다.

Ever-Present Presence

During the 2018 World Cup, Colombian forward Radamel Falcao scored in the seventieth minute against Poland, securing a victory. The dramatic goal was Falcao’s thirtieth in international play, earning him the distinction of scoring the most goals by a Colombian player in international competition.

Falcao has often used his success on the soccer pitch to share his faith, frequently lifting his jersey after a score to reveal a shirt with the words, Con Jesus nunca estara solo: “With Jesus you’ll never be alone.”

Falcao’s statement points us to the reassuring promise from Jesus, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (MATTHEW 28:20). Knowing He was about to return to heaven, Jesus comforted His disciples by assuring them He’d always be with them, through the presence of His Spirit (V. 20; JOHN 14:16–18). Christ’s Spirit would comfort, guide, protect, and empower them as they took the message of Jesus to cities both near and far. And when they experienced periods of intense loneliness in unfamiliar places, Christ’s words would likely echo in their ears, a reminder of His presence with them.

No matter where we go, whether close to home or faraway, as we follow Jesus into the unknown we too can cling to this same promise. Even when we experience feelings of loneliness, as we reach out in prayer to Jesus, we can receive comfort knowing He’s with us. LISA M. SAMRA

논쟁의 여지가 있는 싱가포르 법에 관한 공개 토론이 시작되었을 때, 신자들은 각기 다른 견해로 나누어졌습니다. 어떤 사람들은 다른 이들을 “편협하다”고 했고, 다른 이들은 믿음을 타협한다고 비난했습니다.

논쟁은 성도들 사이에 상처를 주고 낙담시키면서 심한 분열을 야기할 수 있습니다. 나는 성경의 가르침을 내 삶에 어떻게 적용할 것인가에 대한 개인적인 확신들도 중요하지 않은 문제라고 느끼게 되었습니다. 그리고 나와 생각이 다른 사람들을 비판해온 점에 있어서 나도 분명히 그들과 똑같이 죄가 있다고 생각합니다.

Divided in Love

When public debate erupted over a controversial Singapore law, it divided believers with differing views. Some called others “narrow-minded” or accused them of compromising their faith.

Controversies can cause sharp divisions among God’s family, bringing much hurt and discouraging people. I’ve been made to feel small over personal convictions on how I apply the Bible’s teachings to my life. And I’m sure I’ve been equally guilty of criticizing others I disagree with.

I wonder if the problem lies not in what or even in how we express our views, but in the attitudes of our hearts when we do so. Are we just disagreeing with views or seeking to tear down the people behind them?

Yet there are times when we need to address false teaching or explain our stand. Ephesians 4:2–6 reminds us to do so with humility, gentleness, patience, and love. And, above all else, to make every effort “to keep the unity of the Spirit” (V. 3).

Some controversies will remain unresolved. God’s Word, however, reminds us that our goal should always be to build up people’s faith, not tear them down (V. 29). Are we putting others down to win an argument? Or are we allowing God to help us understand His truths in His time and His way, remembering that we share one faith in one Lord? (VV. 4–6). LESLIE KOH

포효하는 쥐

몇 년 전 나는 아들들을 데리고 아이다호 북부의 셀웨이 비터루트 윌더니스에서 며칠 동안 캠핑을 했습니다. 회색곰의 서식지였지만, 우리는 곰을 쫓는 스프레이를 몸에 지니고 있고 캠프장을 청결하게 유지했기 때문에 회색곰과 마주할 일은 없을 거라고 생각했습니다.

어느 날 밤, 랜디가 자기 침낭에서 나오려고 애쓰는 소리가 들렸습니다. 나는 아들이 성난 회색곰에 붙들려 있을 것으로 생각하고 손전등을 찾아 켰습니다.

거기엔 엉덩이를 땅에 대고 똑바로 앉아서 앞발을 공중에 휘젓고 있는 약 4인치(10센티미터) 크기의 들쥐가 있었습니다. 그 쥐가 랜디의 모자를 이빨로 단단히 물고 있었는데, 이 작은 동물은 랜디의 모자를 계속 잡아당겨 그의 머리에서 벗겨내려 하고 있었습니다. 내 웃음소리에 들쥐는 모자를 떨어트리고 달아났습니다. 우리는 침낭에 다시 기어 들어갔지만, 나는 흥분되어 다시 잠들 수 없었습니다. 그때 나는 악마라는 또 다른 약탈자가 생각났습니다.

The Mouse That Roared

Several years ago my sons and I spent a few days camping in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness in Northern Idaho. It’s grizzly bear habitat, but we carried bear spray, kept our campsites clean, and anticipated no major grizzly encounters.

One evening, in the middle of the night, I heard Randy scramble around trying to get out of his sleeping bag. I grabbed my flashlight and turned it on, expecting to see him in the clutches of an enraged grizzly.

There, sitting upright on its haunches and waving its paws in the air was a field mouse about 4 inches tall. It had Randy’s cap firmly clenched in its teeth. The little creature had tugged and tugged until he pulled Randy’s cap from his head. As I laughed, the mouse dropped the cap and scampered away. We crawled back into our sleeping bags. I, however, fully adrenalized, couldn’t get back to sleep and thought about another predator—the devil.

Consider Satan’s temptation of Jesus (MATTHEW 4:1–11). He countered his enticements with the Scriptures. With each answer, Jesus reminded Himself that God had spoken on this issue and therefore He wouldn’t disobey. This caused the devil to flee.

Although Satan wants to devour us, it’s good to remember that he’s a created being like the little rodent. John said, “the one who is in [us] is greater than the one who is in the world”
(1 JOHN 4:4). DAVID H. ROPER
