왕실 손님 접대
스코틀랜드의 무도회에서 영국 여왕을 만난 실비아 부부는 여왕의 가족이 자기 집에 차를 마시러 오고 싶다는 연락을 받았습니다. 실비아는 왕실 손님을 접대하는 일에 들떠서 집 안을 청소하고 준비를 시작했습니다. 그들이 도착하기 전, 그녀는 떨리는 마음으로 식탁에 놓을 꽃을 따러 정원에
나왔습니다. 그때 문득 하나님이 생각나며, 왕 중의 왕이신 하나님이 자기와 매일 함께하신다는 생각이 들었습니다. 즉시 그녀는 마음의 평온을 찾으면서, “그래, 어차피 여왕일 뿐인데!”라는 생각이 들었습니다.
실비아의 말이 맞습니다. 바울 사도가 말한 것처럼 하나님은 “만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주” (디모데전서 6:15) 이시고, 하나님을 따르는 자들은 “하나님의 자녀” (갈라디아서 3:26) 입니다. 우리가 그리스도께 속해 있다면 우리는 아브라함의 자손입니다 (29절) . 우리는 더 이상 인종이나 사회적 계층,
또는 성별의 차이 같은 것에 의한 분열에 얽매이지 않습니다. 우리는 “다 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나” (28절) 이기 때문입니다. 우리는 왕이신 하나님의 자녀입니다.
실비아 부부는 여왕과 함께 아주 특별한 식사를 했지만, 나는 앞으로도 여왕의 초청을 받는 일은 없을 것입니다. 그러나 왕 중의 왕이 매 순간 나와 함께 계신다는 생각 만으로도 나는 기쁩니다. 그리고 진심으로 예수님을 믿는 사람들은 (27절) 자신들이 하나님의 자녀라는 사실을 앎으로 함께 연합하여
살아갈 수 있다는 생각도 나를 기쁘게 합니다. 이 진리를 붙들면 오늘 우리가 어떤 모습으로 살게 될까요?

위대하고 영광스러운 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주이신 하나님. 저를 사랑하기 위해 몸을 낮추시고 저를 하나님의 자녀로 맞아주시니 감사합니다.
당신이 아브라함의 자손이라는 것이 어떤 의미입니까? 어떻게 다른 사람들을 하나님의 가족이 되도록 초대할 수 있을까요?

HOSTING ROYALTY
After meeting the Queen of England at a ball in Scotland, Sylvia and her husband received a message that the royal family would like to visit them for tea. Sylvia started cleaning and prepping, nervous about hosting the royal guests. Before they were due to arrive, she went outside to pick some flowers for the table, her heart racing. Then she sensed God reminding her that He’s the King of kings and that He’s with her every day. Immediately she felt peaceful and thought, “After all, it’s only the Queen!”
Sylvia is right. As the apostle Paul noted, God is the “King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 TIMOTHY 6:15) and those who follow Him are “children of God” (GALATIANS 3:26) . When we belong to Christ, we’re heirs of Abraham (V. 29) . We no longer are bound by division—such as that of race, social class, or gender—for we’re “all one in Christ Jesus” (V. 28) . We’re children of the King.
Although Sylvia and her husband had a marvelous meal with the Queen, I don’t anticipate receiving an invitation from her anytime soon. But I love the reminder that the highest King of all is with me every moment. And that those who believe in Jesus wholeheartedly (V. 27) can live in unity, knowing they’re God’s children.
How could holding onto this truth shape the way we live today?
